If you're not crashing, you're not FLYING! Anyone can learn to take-off, putt around, and then land. It takes a real pilot to do high-speed inverted rudder drags on the runway! What kind of pilot are you?

If you been a listener to our podcast for a while, then you already know all about our Build-Along series that we've made an annual event. This year's Build-Along is going to be a bit different than what we've done in the past with the e-QSC airplane and the QSC TriCopter!
It has become apparent to me that not everyone is cut out to be a scratch-builder. Honestly, you kind of need to have built a few kits first to get the background necessary to step into the whole scratch-building scene. I have been surprised to see just how many pilots we have in RC Land that have amassed some pretty decent piloting skills, but have never actually built their own plane - kit or from scratch. Well, as always, we here at TheCrashCast aim to supply you with all the knowledge necessary to aid you in building your own planes. That being said, this year's Build-Along Project will be a kit, rather than a scratch-build aircraft.
I looked all around for a suitable kit to do this project with. I wanted a plane that would be easy enough to fly that our first-time pilots could get good use of as a trainer, but I also wanted the plane to be something that would entice our more skilled pilots out there to jump on the band-wagon with us. Of course, just about any project I take on like this needs to be easy on the wallet, too. LoL I find that the RadicalRC Mini Intern kit met my criteria perfectly, and since I have build some of Dave Thacker's kits in the past, I knew that this would be the perfect project for us.
One of the cool things about this little plane is that it is just small enough that we can incorporate a covering method different from the usual iron-on covering that most of you guys are already familiar with. With this build, I am going to show you a spin on the old tissue-covering method that modelers have been using FOREVER! The coolest things about this is that I will show you a way to cover with tissue that does NOT use those nasty, smelly dopes that the old-timers used, and the tissue coverings are way cheaper that the iron-on coverings!
